Meet Sam

I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator, supporting families across San Francisco.

My work is rooted in the belief that birth is both deeply personal and shaped by the support surrounding it. I approach this work through a community-centered, evidence-based lens, offering grounded, research informed guidance while honoring the emotional, physical, and transformative experience of birth.

Golden Gate Bridge

I support clients planning births at:

UCSF

CPMC

Kaiser

SFGH

MarinHealth

the San Francisco Birth Center

and at home with midwives.

Training

I completed my birth and postpartum doula training at Natural Resources in San Francisco. I’ve also trained with Elizabeth Davis through the Heart & Hands Midwifery Intensive and continue to learn through mentorship with homebirth midwife Michelle Welborn.

Additional training includes:

  • Evidence Based Birth® continuing education

  • Spinning Babies® training

  • American Red Cross CPR & AED certification

Rooted in the Sunset

I live and work in the Outer Sunset and feel deeply connected to this community. While I support families all throughout San Francisco, I especially love supporting families in the Sunset and Richmond neighborhoods - birth is inherently communal and there’s something special about caring for your neighbors.

Some of my favorite moments in this work are when I have the opportunity to share a meal with clients in early labor or walk along the Great Highway as things begin to shift. If this approach resonates with you, I’d love to connect.

Why Doula Support Matters

Research clearly and consistently shows that continuous support during labor improves both outcomes and experience.

People who have doula support are more likely to have:

LOWER RATES OF
CESARIAN BIRTH

The presence of a doula can decrease the likelihood of a cesarean by 39%!
