Meet Sam

I completed my birth and postpartum doula training at Natural Resources in San Francisco. I’ve also trained with Elizabeth Davis through the Heart & Hands Midwifery Intensive and continue to learn through mentorship with community midwife, Michelle Welborn. Additional training includes:

  • Evidence Based Birth® continuing education

  • Spinning Babies® training

  • American Red Cross CPR & AED certification

More personally, I am an east coaster with a full and abundant world here on the west coast. My joy comes from moving my body in the ocean, in the mountains, and enjoying briny foods and quality time with people I cherish.

Welcome! I'm Sam :) I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator, supporting families across San Francisco and the Bay Area.

I came to this work from a career in K12 education, both in the classroom and at philanthropic organizations. I deeply believe that healthy communities begin with healthy families. I feel privileged to support families in making informed, empowered choices and help them feel safe and cared for as they navigate the joy and uncertainty that comes with this tremendous life transition.

Every birth is different. I have experience supporting many birth experiences and environments, including medicated and unmedicated hospital births, cesareans, VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), birth center and homebirths, medical inductions and more. I support clients planning births at UCSF, CPMC, Kaiser, SFGH, MarinHealth, the San Francisco Birth Center and at home with midwives.

Rooted in the Sunset

I live and work in the Outer Sunset and feel deeply connected to this community. While I support families all throughout the Bay Area, I especially love supporting families in the Sunset and Richmond neighborhoods - birth is inherently communal and there’s something special about caring for your neighbors.

Some of my favorite moments in this work are when I have the opportunity to share a meal with clients in early labor or walk along the Great Highway as things begin to shift.
